Racism Spin and Obfuscation

Thomas SowellCredit card fraud is a serious problem. But race card fraud is an even bigger problem.

Playing the race card takes many forms. Judge Charles Pickering, a federal judge in Mississippi who defended the civil rights of blacks for years and defied the Ku Klux Klan back when that was dangerous, was depicted as a racist when he was nominated for a federal appellate judgeship.

No one even mistakenly thought he was a racist. The point was simply to discredit him for political reasons– and it worked.

This year's target is the Tea Party. When leading Democrats, led by a smirking Nancy Pelosi, made their triumphant walk on Capitol Hill, celebrating their passage of a bill in defiance of public opinion, Tea Party members on the scene protested.

All this was captured on camera and the scene was played on television. What was not captured on any of the cameras and other recording devices on the scene was anybody using racist language, as has been charged by those playing the race card.

Yet they still bring this up. Think about it….

This was a media event. When you realize how many media people were there, and how many ordinary citizens carry around recording devices of one sort or another, it is remarkable– indeed, unbelievable– that racist remarks were made and yet were not captured by anybody.

The latest attack on the Tea Party movement, by Ben Jealous of the NAACP, has once again played the race card. Like the proverbial lawyer who knows his case is weak, he shouts louder.

An organization like the NAACP, after years of fighting against genuine racism, should now be playing the game of race card fraud is especially painful to see… and shameful.

Some critics of the Tea Party have seized upon banners carried at one of its rallies that compared Obama with Hitler and Stalin. Extreme? Yes. But there was nothing racist about it, since extreme comparisons have been made about politicians of every race, color, creed, nationality, ideology and sexual preference.

Some Obama supporters have long regarded any criticism of him as racism. But that they should have to resort to such a banner to bolster their case shows how desperate they are for any evidence.

Among people who voted for Barack Obama in 2008, those who are likely to be most disappointed are those who thought that they were voting for a new post-racial era. There was absolutely nothing in Obama's past to lead to any such expectation, and much to suggest the exact opposite. But the man's rhetoric and demeanor during the election campaign enabled this and many other illusions to flourish.

NAACP Whining and Still Blaming Whitey

shout rascist

In just a few short decades, the stalwart strivers for equality have turned into coddled whiners for hypersensitivity.

The NAACP is a laughingstock. The group no longer represents the best interests of oppressed minorities, but the thin-skinned whims of the black elite and the ravenous appetite of the Nanny State. Establishment civil rights leaders now use their once-compelling moral authority to hector, bully and shake down corporate and political targets.

Now they plan on labeling the Tea Party as racists – those old white folks holding up signs are such a danger, dontcha know.

It's the tactic of the day. If you disagree with someone, just call him a racist. As if that settles the issue. But it doesn't.

And if you can't find evil enough enemies to blame for your problems, manufacture them. This is why one of the most popular signs spotted at tea party protests across the country remains the one that reads: "It doesn't matter what this sign says. You'll call it racism, anyway!"

Another tactic is to point fingers and label the other side with exactly what you are doing. The NAACP calls others "racist" yet the NAACP lobbied FOR the Black Panthers and their overt racism.

So who is the real racist here?

It was the St. Louis NAACP chapter that attacked a black man, activist Kenneth Gladney, who was derided by civil rights leaders as an "Uncle Tom" after he was beaten bloody by Service Employees International Union henchmen last summer.

So who is the real racist here?

And yet … Addressing the convention on Monday, first lady Michelle Obama urged NAACP mau-mau-ers to "increase" their "intensity." She's a pro at employing intense accusations of racial oppression as a defense against criticism and milking the victim-ocracy for all its worth.

At Princeton, she complained about "further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant." But rather than remaining "on the periphery," Mrs. Obama climbed the crooked Chicago ladder on a rapid ascent to the top. She hopped from Princeton to Harvard to prestigious law firms, cushy nonprofit gigs and an exclusive Hyde Park manse, before landing in the East Wing with the greatest of ease.

New Black Panther Cover-up Uncovered

New Black Panther Cover-up Uncovered

THE REAL SUPERMAN

Philadelphia 2008. The New Black Panthers intimidate voters with billy clubs and talk like:"now you'll know what it is like to be ruled by the black man, cracker."

The three black panthers, Minister King Samir Shabazz (AKA Field Nigga on MySpace), Malik Zulu Shabazz and Jerry Jackson were charged in a civil complaint (under GWB) with violating the voter rights act by using coercion, threats and intimidation. Shabazz allegedly held a nightstick or baton that prosecutors said he pointed at people and menacingly tapped it. Prosecutors also say he "supports racially motivated violence against non-blacks and Jews."
