film stillThe L.A. Times reports: As far as the new disaster film "2012" is concerned, the world will end with both a bang and a whimper, the bang of undeniably impressive special effects and the whimper of inept writing and characterization.

Their words. I love a good disaster flick and was really looking forward to seeing this one.

One thing with this film though, really pisses me off. They are destroying everything possible in this movie – OK, that is what we go to see (hopefully, well done). The Vatican dome skitters across Rome. Christ the Redeemer tumbles in Rio. A Buddhist temple is destroyed, on and on — all except anything remotely Islamic.

The reason for religious destruction? "Because I'm against organized religion," as Roland Emmerich tells SciFiWire.com.

BUT not ALL organized religion because nothing remotely Islamic was touched upon. Heavens no – we might "offend" someone. The hypocritical filmmakers freely admit that they were AFRAID of repercussions.

When it came to showing the destruction of Mecca, and specifically the Kaaba, the cube-shaped building that all Muslims face when they pray, Emmerich got cold feet.

"Well, I wanted to do that, I have to admit," Emmerich says of his desire to smash the Kaaba. "But my co-writer Harald [Kloser] said I will not have a fatwa on my head because of a movie. And he was right."

What a bunch of asshole hypocrites and cowards. Afraid?? Grow a spine, willya?  Here — it's easy…

ha ha ha

Muslims need to develop a sense of humour and an appreciation of satire, and they need to understand that they are not “free of being mocked or being offended,” says controversial Danish caricaturist Kurt Westergaard.
