Call them what they are. Bigots. Religious bigots.
NBC committed an act of overt religious bigotry designed to offend Christians on Sunday by removing the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance during their final round coverage of the 2011 U.S. Open.
Perhaps they could have gotten away with a lame excuse of "a mistake", but it happened again!
Twice is not a mistake — it is deliberate. How dare they! If they will not pledge themselves to this country as it was founded, then get the hell out.
Dan Gainor, VP of Business & Culture at the Media Research Center to remark, "It was absolutely not accidental. It was brazenly deliberate."
NBC did offer what a number of religious leaders have called a pathetic apology, but in their refusal to admit any wrongdoing, NBC has only compounded the offense.
The MRC is working with faith-based organizations across the country to demand NBC identify and fire those responsible for this overt insult, or admit to being guilty of giving aid and comfort to religious bigots!
ACTION: Please join MRC in this fight by taking TWO IMMEDIATE STEPS:
1. Send your personal emails to NBC executives demanding the network fire those responsible for this latest bigoted attack against Christians.
With a simple click, the MRC will immediately deliver your comments and personal outrage to key NBC executives. <http://www.grassrootsaction.com/r.asp?U=43656&CID=7&RID=30825146>
2. Reach out to your local religious leaders and encourage them to condemn NBC for their deliberate act against people of faith.
